Every week, I write a hundred-word story inspired by a random word. This week's word is "numbers."

Number 23
By Nigel G. Mitchell

He was the 23rd generation of clones bred for the War.
His call sign was Whiskey-11-Bravo. W is the 23rd letter of the alphabet. Bravo has five letters. (11.5 x 2=23)
His weapon was a Ledford .23 plasma rifle.
His starship was the 23rd ship launched during the battle of Sturgill, and breached the enemy ship at airlock 23.
Lone survivor, he killed two-thirds of the enemy soldiers in the ship before he was shot in the 23rd vertebrae.
He died at 0419, Galactic time. (4+19=23)
23 million colonists owed their lives to him, and 23 became their holy number.
