100-Word Sci-Fi: "Concerto"

Every week, I write a hundred-word story inspired by a random word. This week's word is "harp."

Concerto
By Nigel G. Mitchell

Rotti Pava sat at her terra-harp, facing the window on the space station. Her fingers swept across her harp's strings.

Each string triggered seismic conductors buried on the planet below. With each strum of her harp, the planet's crust quaked. Volcanoes erupted. Satellites in orbit carried the vibrations to speakers in the station's auditorium. The audience gasped at the music created by the thunder of the dying planet.

At the grand finale, Rotti plucked the final string. As the planet's core boiled away into dust, she rose and took her bow to the cheering audience.
