Every week, I write a 100-word story based on a random word. This week's word is "flag."
Frek Goham walked into the office of the chief archaeologist. "We found something at the dig."
He held out the tattered strip of cloth to Maida Pemary. Maida took it and studied it in the light.
"What is it?" Frek whispered.
"Some sort of banner. Probably of religious significance."
Frek squinted at its fringes. "What should we do with it?"
"Preserve it. Maybe the museum can figure out what it was for." Maida frowned. "I like the red, white, and blue stripes. Stars seem a little overdone."
She carefully folded the banner, and placed it in a box for storage.
