100-Word Sci-Fi: "Fine Dining"

Every week, I write a hundred-word story inspired by a random word. This week's word is "dining."

Fine Dining
By Nigel G. Mitchell

Stacy Allen frowned at the food in front of her. "Um, can I have a fork?"

One of the two alien beings smiled and pointed. "Push the button."

Stacy carefully pushed the button next to her plate.

As she watched, food seemed to melt off the table. At the same time, she felt a thick substance oozing into her mouth. She jumped back, letting go of her button.

The stuff stopped filling her mouth, and the food remained on the table.

Stacy chewed slowly, tasting delicious food. She reached for the button again.
